Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus appointed as winner of the ‘A museum, Two museums’ project. The project can now move forward with the construction of the new Vaud Pôle Muséal cultural space. By 2020, it will unite together on one site with a surface area of nearly 22,000 square metres, the future Pôle muséal will bring together three museums (mcb-a, mudac and the Musée de l’Elysée) and two foundations (Toms Pauli and Félix Vallotton Foundations) which throughout the year will offer a very broad and dynamic cultural programme to visitors of all tastes and ages. The extension project for the Unterlinden Museum in Colmar encompasses two ensembles facing each other across the future Unterlinden Square: on one side, the medieval cloister with the chapel currently housing Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece and, on the other, as its counterpart, a new wing similar to the chapel in volume which, together with the former municipal baths buildings, form a second courtyard on the other side of the Unterlinden Square. Der Kindergarten liegt im Quartier Cassarate einer Stadterweiterung des 19. Jahrhunderts, die sich über die vergangenen Jahrzehnte konsolidiert hat. Die vorherrschende Typologie stellt der Geschosswohnungsbau mit 3 bis 8 Geschossen und meist kommerzieller Nutzung im Erdgeschoss dar.
